The people we admire in our culture are those who sacrifice their safety and freedom. Military leaders, firefighters, police officers, they are the type of people we honour. And yet everywhere we turn we are battered with advertisements trying to get us to live our lives for the exact opposite. No one wants his epitaph to be about hot girls and big screen TV's.
